During the month of October, The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon will be collecting gently used coats at over 25 locations in Knox County. The coats will be cleaned by Gault’s Plaza Cleaners and then taken to Interchurch Social Services and the Salvation Army to be distributed to children in need before winter arrives. Since 1987, nearly 19,000 coats have been donated, cleaned, and distributed.
KCCC's JROTC participated in a Raider competition this weekend with 24 other teams from across KY, PA, and Ohio. This was the first competition this year for JROTC and the first competition ever for half the team. Great team effort! We are proud of you!
KCCC's JROTC is open to all students in the ninth grade or above looking for a unique opportunity. Students can take JROTC for one year or all four years of high school. The class is offered as a one-period elective, and there is no military commitment associated with JROTC.

Juniors in Computer Network Technology learned how to create ethernet cables. Each student was able to successfully create a working ethernet cable. They then tested the cable to ensure functionality.
Students in Computer Network Technology obtain training in computer hardware repair & maintenance, software troubleshooting & network administration.
Seniors in Mrs. Kallay's English 12 classes prepared for Mock Interviews by critiquing a variety of "Good, Bad, and Ugly" resumes. Students were given six resumes, and the student hiring committees rated them from 1st to 6th place. As a team, they provided feedback on each resume by detailing what was great and what could have been better!
Students in heavy labs at KCCC were able to visit the Skilled Trades Union Career Fair, held in the Children's Garden, this past Friday. Students had the opportunity to hear more about each company/employer, learn about potential opportunities ahead of them, and ask questions.
This was a great opportunity for our students! Thank you, Mrs. Marhefka, for all your work in putting these kinds of events together for our students!

Students in Building Trades performed a concrete pour at the intersection of Main and Vine Street in Mount Vernon. Students worked on concrete placement along with the color and stamp process.

Representatives from Kokosing spoke with students at KCCC this week. Students learned more about the history of Kokosing and all of the opportunities they offer.

KCCC celebrates earning a 5 out of 5 on the state report card!
We are also pleased to have met 9 out of 9 federal indicators. The report card is reflective of any student in our six associate schools who take a career tech course at their local high school plus the students who attend Knox County Career Center High School. A huge shout out to our students, staff, and administrators who work hard each day on learning new skills, earning credentials, doing well on state and national tests, and recording all of the data.

Juniors in Digital Media & Software Development learned about shutter priority on DSLR cameras. Students worked in groups to see how changing the shutter speed affects a picture with different speeds and lighting levels.

Students in Building Trades received heavy equipment operation & safety training along with laser and grade-setting training.
Students in Building Trades explore and develop techniques in heavy equipment operations, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and concrete.
During Workplace Skills class, CollegeU-Business seniors worked in small discussion groups discussing the many different legal aspects of interviews - from the perspective of both the interviewer and interviewee.
Students in CollegeU-Business experience a partnership between Central Ohio Technical College and Knox County Career Center.
