The KCCC Schools District is a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce's Safety Council. We attend monthly meetings and learn about a wide variety of safety issues in running a school that has many similarities to businesses with our career tech labs, our cafeteria, our fleet for transportation, etc. Our Superintendent shared this month about the many ways our district can support businesses and the community services our KCCC High School and KTC students offer.

KCCC seniors are able to earn the opportunity to take their career tech skills to businesses and industry during their senior year by meeting academic grade, attendance, behavior, and performance expectations in their career tech lab and academic classes.

Chef Russo and our Culinary Arts students held their "soft opening" of the River Room Cafe and Coffee Shop this week. Coffee and baked goods (staff & students) along with lunch (staff) could be ordered. Great customer service opportunity for our students! Everything was delicious!

Good luck to all of our associate schools who are competing in the postseason this weekend!

Ohio Means Jobs Open House
Wednesday, November 1
4:00-6:00 pm

University of Northwestern Ohio spoke to CollegeU-Business students about continuing their college education with UNOH, including upcoming open houses, and amazing scholarship opportunities. UNOH also included a lesson about interview skills.

During the month of October, The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon will be collecting gently used coats at over 25 locations in Knox County. The coats will be cleaned by Gault’s Plaza Cleaners and then taken to Interchurch Social Services and the Salvation Army to be distributed to children in need before winter arrives. Since 1987, nearly 19,000 coats have been donated, cleaned, and distributed.

"I really enjoyed how KCCC staff interacted with the students and treated them as adults. I also think it's beneficial that the career center allows students to pursue an internship to allow them to prepare for their future careers. The biggest benefit of participating in the CollegeU-Business program was the amount of credits that go towards college after high school. It's very beneficial if you want to start working right after high school, or if you want to pursue any type of business major in your future education." -Tyler Estep

Did you know? KCCC has an extensive preventative maintenance program and scheduled replacement for roofs, chairs, computers, vans, etc. Permanent Improvement dollars are legally set aside for these types of purchases, including remodeling and additions which will help us expand and meet the demand of students and local employers.

High School Substitute Teacher Opportunity!

Students in English classes worked on Mock Interview preparation recently. Students combined classes and participated in round-robin style interviews with other students. They took turns interviewing each other. Great opportunity to prep for our Mock Interviews tomorrow (Wednesday)!
