Knox County Career Center (KCCC) students competed in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference May 6-10 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
KCCC had seven students from CollegeU-Business and Computer Network Technology who competed at the BPA National Leadership Conference, including two students who earned Top 10 finishes. Logan Woolverton, junior in Computer Network Technology, earned 10th place in Server Administration using Microsoft. Kale Oswalt, junior in CollegeU-Business, earned 9th place in Extemporaneous Speech.
Students were recognized at the BPA National Leadership Conference Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 9th.

Ms. Dani, senior in Early Childhood Education, served as the lead teacher in KCCC's Preschool recently. Ms. Dani taught children about reptiles! Children learned that dinosaurs are related to reptiles and that reptiles have scales or shells and are cold blooded.
Some of the activities included:
-A reptile vet clinic in dramatic play.
-Measuring and comparing the sizes of reptiles in math.
-Making coffee filter turtles in art.
Students in Early Childhood Education have fun preparing young children to enter kindergarten.

Ms. Addyson, senior in Early Childhood Education, served as the lead teacher in KCCC's Preschool recently. Ms. Addyson taught students about what lives in the ocean. Children learned that many plants and animals make their home in the coral reef and that reptiles and mammals live in the ocean.
Some of the activities included:
-Painting starfish with different textures in art.
-Counting ocean animals and identifying the number.
-Coding our Frog-E robot to go to different ocean animals.
Students in Early Childhood Education have fun preparing young children to enter kindergarten.

KCCC's FFA celebrated all of their accomplishments at the FFA Awards Day this past Monday. A special congratulations to Chuck Melick for receiving the Honorary Chapter Degree and to Charley Beheler on being a three-year member of the FFA chapter here at KCCC. Our FFA chapter has a lot to be proud of! Great job!!

Seniors at KCCC had their annual Senior Picnic last week! Staff grilled out and served seniors lunch while seniors played games and enjoyed spending time together! Thank you to Mrs. Bush for heading up our Senior Picnic and to all of our staff who helped out to make this event a success!

In order to to earn their Ohio State Board License, students must complete 1500 hours in school (clock-time hours in the lab and classroom), pass a variety of written tests, and pass the theory & practical exams at the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology.
