Congratulations to Dr. Bennett on receiving a 2026 Ohio School Board Association Award this month. The Service Award is a distinct award within the STARS Awards Program - Service, Training, Aptitude, and Recognition. Of the more than 3,400 board members in Ohio, only 34 will receive the honor in 2026. Congratulations, Dr. Bennett. Congratulations to Kyra Carpenter & Weston Bostic on finishing in 9th place in the Hardscape Installation event at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition at MSU last week! Kyra & Weston first to to qualify by taking an online test, with the top 40 teams advancing to build a hardscape patio and pillar in under two hours. This is the best finish ever for KCCC students in this event! Great job!

Juniors in Building Trades learned how to build and square a wood base to frame metal stud walls on. Students learned how to measure, cut, and hand drywalls. The students also got their first experience with running drywall screw guns on metal studs. This was good experience in preparation to build a permanent climate-controlled classroom within the Building Trades lab for curriculum lectures.

Students in Building Trades construct a variety of projects from blueprint to completion.

Knox County Career Center (KCCC) students competed in the SkillsUSA Central Region competition held at Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-TEC) on Friday, March 13th.

Gavin Domka, junior in Metal Fabrication and Welding, placed first in the Welding competition. Brandyn Thomas, junior in Health Technologies, placed fourth in the Medical Terminology competition. Keith Rogers, senior in Precision Machining, placed third in the 3-axis CNC Milling competition. Beau Keller, senior in Precision Machining, placed first in the 2-axis CNC Turning competition. Coy Bieri, junior in Precision Machining, placed fourth in the 2-axis CNC Turning competition. All five students qualified for the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference on May 5-6, 2026 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Illustrator Richard Cowdrey visited the Digital Media lab to share his career journey. Mr. Cowdrey is known for Illustrating Marley the Dog and Fiona the Hippo. Mr. Cowdrey also discussed what it takes to create a new website for a client. Great opportunity for our students to hear about Mr. Cowdrey's journey!
