During the month of October, The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon will be collecting gently used coats at over 25 locations in Knox County. The coats will be cleaned by Gault’s Plaza Cleaners and then taken to Interchurch Social Services and the Salvation Army to be distributed to children in need before winter arrives. Since 1987, nearly 19,000 coats have been donated, cleaned, and distributed.

CollegeU-Business juniors covered the value of creating a plan during Team Building. Each team had to work together to use the marker attached to the yarn to draw a dog. The students had to discuss their team objectives and skills to develop a plan to create the best picture. They followed up the activity by discussing what they could have improved in the planning process. Students in CollegeU-Business earn a highly transferable Associates Degree in Business and a high school diploma at the same time.
