During Workplace Skills class, CollegeU-Business seniors worked in small discussion groups discussing the many different legal aspects of interviews - from the perspective of both the interviewer and interviewee. Students in CollegeU-Business experience a partnership between Central Ohio Technical College and Knox County Career Center.

Based on what students in Sports Medicine & Exercise Science learned about the musculoskeletal system, and the structure/function of muscles, students constructed a favorite muscle or muscle group using objects from around the lab and incorporated mini marshmallows to provide mass to the muscle. Students in Sports Medicine & Exercise Science apply physical therapy, injury recognition, and athletic training to enhance rehabilitation.

Representatives from Rable Machine Inc. came in to speak with Precision Machining students about what their company does. There is a potential job shadowing or co-op opportunity for students in Precision Machining. Rable Machine Inc. services 10 different sectors and ships nearly 10,000 parts per month out of their Mansfield branch. Students at KCCC have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers and company representatives throughout the school year.

HVAC students worked on various pipe fitting projects. They learned how to solder, and how to thread piping. Each project was to be pressure tested and hold 50 psi to pass. Students in HVAC develop skills in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects for HVAC systems.

Students have been preparing for the Ohio High School Landscape Olympics that will take place in a few weeks. Students in Landscape Design & Management operate and maintain equipment used for landscape design, building projects, maintaining professional sports fields, and lawn care.

Sophomores in Career Based Intervention (CBI) worked on making fresh pasta while seniors in Culinary Arts rolled out Lofthouse cookies. Students in CBI (sophomore-only program) have the opportunity to experience four different labs throughout the school year. Students in Culinary Arts plan, prepare, and cater meals for formal events and casual dining.

Seniors in Health Technologies learned how to perform and interpret 12 lead EKGs. After completion of this 7-week course, students will be eligible to take the certification exam to become credentialed as a Certified EKG Technician (CET). Students in Health Technologies explore a wide range of health careers through practical lab experiences and a college science curriculum.

Juniors in Automotive Technology performed an oil change on a 2010 Ford Escape. Mr. Frye spoke to students about the importance of not double-gasketing the oil filter. Students in Automotive Technology work on vehicles and mechanical systems in a modern automotive environment.
