Did you know? Knox County Career Center Schools District is on the ballot for the first time in 29 years.

"KCCC definitely meant a lot to my professional development. I loved learning the hard skills from Building Trades, even though I never used them professionally. However, the soft skills of teamwork, interviewing, negotiating, etc., did transfer to so many areas of my life. I learned to be more confident through my time at KCCC and I am proud to be an alumni." -Olivia Greenich Stern

KCCC's Student Council hosted Red Ribbon Week October 23-27, reminding students to make healthy lifestyle choices including not drinking alcohol, smoking, and vaping. Student Council hosted various activities including spirit week, a banner to sign committing to safe and healthy choices, giveaways with necklaces, bracelets, and stickers, a root beer float bar, ice your own cookie day, a demonstration with Teen Advisory Council (TAC), and more. Our students enjoyed all the special activities!

Did you know? KCCC High School students earned over $640,000 and worked over 58,500 hours last year.

Students in Health Technologies at KCCC partnered with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive at KCCC for students, staff, and the public! Thank you to all who donated! We appreciate you!

CollegeU-Business juniors spent time speaking with Kenton Mickley, Financial Advisor. Prior to his arrival students discussed what an informational interview is and its value. They prepared and conducted an informational interview with Mr. Mickley. They asked questions like why he became a financial advisor, what a typical day looks like, what is his favorite part of his day, what does he do the community, and what are his future goals. The interview helps students learn about careers in finance and professional conduct. Thank you for your time, Kenton!

Students from Health Technologies, Computer Network Technology, Career Based Intervention, CollegeU-Business, Sports Medicine & Exercise Science, and Pre-Prefessional Mentorship participated in the Knox County Careers Expo at KCCC last week. The event was sponsored by the Knox Area Development Foundation, Knox Community Hospital, Knox County of DD, Knox Technical Center, and Ohio Eastern Star Home. Great opportunity for our students to learn more about careers in the Healthcare field and ask questions to professionals in the field.

Students in Transitional Living Skills choose a job location to conduct an informational interview. The first interview was held at Papa John's. Students asked questions in order to learn more about what the job entails and expectations from the company. Students spoke with the Papa John's General Manager and took a tour of the facility.

KCCC's River Room Cafe will be opening to the public next week!
Guests will have to check in at the main entrance of KCCC and come to the outside River Room Cafe doors or through the building to River Room Cafe entrance in the cafeteria. Make sure you have your ID with you!

"Attending the KCCC gave me the foundation I needed to pursue a career as a hairstylist and a business owner. The staff was always encouraging and treated students as adults. Teachers there genuinely care about your success during school and after graduation. When you attend the KCCC you will always have a resource to come back to even long after you graduate. I look forward to my children becoming students there!" -Jessica Russell

Mrs. Bush, KCCC School Counselor, held College Application Day on Thursday this week for any students interested in receiving help filling out college applications. Representatives from MVNU, OSU-Newark, and COTC were present to assist with the process.

Students in Building Trades toured three local facilities recently to find out more about the industry. Students visited Kokosing, Mack Industries, and the Ohio Contractors Association's Drexel J. Thrash Training Center. Great opportunity for our students!

KCCC's Preschool children spent Tuesday trick-or-treating around the hallways of KCCC. Students and staff passed out candy and treats to children. We loved seeing all of the costumes and children dressed up!

Did you know? Knox County Career Center High School numbers continue to grow. This year we have 626 students. We expanded to two CollegeU-Business programs to meet the needs of students. These students earn an Associate Degree before they graduate high school. Seventy-one degrees have been earned since the first group of students finished in 2018.

KCCC seniors are able to earn the opportunity to take their career tech skills to businesses and industry during their senior year by meeting academic grade, attendance, behavior, and performance expectations in their career tech lab and academic classes.

"The career center was a great opportunity because it brought me out of my shell and allowed me to do hands-on learning in the lab. I also gained hands-on experience working at a golf course during my senior year for co-op. I met many great people and had a lot of great teachers while I was there!" -Maria (Perry) Moreland
